CHICAGO, February 27, 2023 —7wireVentures (7wire) announced today the addition of healthcare industry veteran and thought leader Dan Michelson as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. In this role, Dan will help 7wire portfolio companies to enhance their strategy, go-to-market, operations, and culture as they grow and scale. Dan brings an impressive 30-year track record building and leading healthcare technology companies as well as creating the markets for Electronic Prescribing, Electronic Health Records, Decision Support, Financial Planning, and Performance Management across U.S. hospitals and health systems.

For the last decade, Dan served as the Chief Executive Officer of Strata Decision Technology, a healthcare technology company that became an industry standard with a cloud-based financial planning, analytics and performance platform used by over half of U.S. healthcare, including over 400 healthcare delivery systems and 2,000 hospitals. Dan joined Strata as CEO in 2012 when it was owned by a private equity firm, led the sale of the company to Roper Technologies (NYSE: ROP) in 2015, and remained CEO until 2022. In his time with Strata, the valuation of the company increased by over $1 billion as the company was recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the nation and one of the best places to work in healthcare. Strata also received the prestigious “Best in KLAS” award for the highest customer satisfaction in the industry for ten consecutive years.

“Dan is one of the most well respected, compassionate, and passionate leaders and operators in healthcare,” stated Glen Tullman, “He has a track record of building world-class companies and developing and growing markets, making significant contributions to the evolution of both the clinical and financial side of healthcare. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with Dan again and to have him partner with the leaders of our 7wire portfolio companies to support their efforts to create companies that will make real differences in health and care.”

Dan is the Founder and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of InCommon, a software and services company that helps companies turn culture into a strategy that drives productivity, engagement, and retention by ensuring everyone on the team feels part of the CORE™. Prior to joining Strata, Dan spent 12 years as the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX). In his time at the company, he partnered with Glen Tullman, Lee Shapiro, and the leadership team to help the healthcare technology company grow from 100 to over 6,000 employees and over $1 billion in annual revenue. He has provided consulting for many of the nation’s top hospitals and health systems and has also worked for Baxter International (NYSE: BAX) and AstraZeneca (NASDAQ: AZN). He served on the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, was one of the founders of the EHR Vendors Association, and is the co-author of Margin + Mission: A Prescription for Curing Healthcare’s Cost Crisis as well as The Electronic Physician.

“There is significant strategic opportunity and an enormous operational need for hospitals and health systems to partner with others to expand their scope, enhance their capabilities, and create a more cohesive patient and consumer experience. 7wire is perfectly positioned to help with a portfolio of companies that are moving consumers to the very core of health and care to create a more informed and connected experience,” commented Michelson. “I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to partner again with Glen Tullman and Lee Shapiro as well as to collaborate with Alyssa Jaffee, Robert Garber, and the wonderful leaders across the 7wire portfolio of consumer-directed companies.”

Dan is an Adjunct Professor teaching Decision Strategy at the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University in Chicago.
